Agnieszka Holland

Agnieszka Holland is one of the most important contemporary Polish filmmakers, whose career extends from the late 1970s to the present day. Born in Warsaw in 1948, she has developed a markedly political and humanistic cinematic language, addressing themes related to Polish history, oppression, and the search for individual freedom. After her early work in underground cinema, she achieved international recognition with films such as "Europa, Europa" and "Three Colours: White". Her recent "Green Border" (2023) continues this tradition, addressing the contemporary migration crisis at the border between Poland and Belarus with the same ethical sensitivity and critical perspective that characterize her entire body of work.
