Alice Rohrwacher

Alice Rohrwacher is an Italian director born in 1981 in Erbusco, Lombardy, considered one of the most original and recognized voices in contemporary Italian cinema. Following her debut with "Corpo celeste" (2011), a masterwork of simplicity and depth addressing the relationship between faith and identity in an adolescent girl, Rohrwacher consolidates her reputation with "Le meraviglie" (2014), awarded the Grand Prix at Cannes. Shot in the Tuscan countryside, the film is a visual poem on the beauty of nature and complex rural family dynamics. With "Lazzaro Felice" (2018), winner of the Jury Prize at Cannes, the director creates an enigmatic and rarefied work blending neorealism with fairy-tale dimensions, telling the story of a young peasant in a historical and mythic landscape.
