Greece

Athina Rachel Tsangari is a Greek director and visual artist of great originality, internationally recognized for her radical and experimental approach to cinematic language. Her work ventures into the hybrid territory between art cinema and visual essay, where conventional narrative structures dissolve in favor of a logic closer to installation and performance. Her masterwork Harvest represents the culmination of this vision: an enigmatic and disturbing film that transforms the everyday into a source of mystery, revealing hidden fractures in the social fabric. Tsangari creates atmospheres of alienation and unease through essential and geometric direction, where each visual element acquires symbolic meaning. Her voice is decidedly authorial, characterized by critical reflection on modernity, the body, power, and alterity. Within contemporary European cinema, Tsangari represents an example of consciously demanding research, refusing compromises with the mainstream to assert a provocative and unsettling language.

Athina Rachel Tsangari presented films at Venice Film Festival.
